Puerto Rico welcomes Jake Paul and his promotion on Saturday as he and Amanda Serrano are in action, but the purse won't compare to his previous fights.

Jake Paul will face Ryan Bourland on Saturday, March 2 as he fights in Puerto Rico for the first time, although he's claimed to be carrying an injury. Paul uploaded a video to his YouTube channel titled 'I got injured before my fight', but then captioned his promotional post for the video with "Doubt me all you want this is my destiny and I will fulfill it."

Paul is 8-1 in his professional career and has made approximately $80 million from boxing, but just like in his last fight against Andre August, he isn't expecting to make a major profit.

The rise of Paul in boxing has been controversial, but the 27-year-old continues to silence the haters. After first targeting athletes from other sports, predominantly inactive UFC fighters, Paul has now started challenging boxers who are either looking to make a name for themselves or have an impressive record already but haven't received the coverage.

Paul has defeated the likes of Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, Nate Diaz, and Anderson Silva from the MMA world, but suffered his only career loss against Tommy Fury, boxer and brother of heavyweight Tyson. His most recent win came on Dec. 15 against August, who was 10-1 with five knockouts before being stopped by Paul in the first round.

Paul claimed he would break even on the fight after electing to give his winnings away, but it was also one of his lowest-performing pay-per-view bouts. "I'm giving up 100 percent of a lot of money. This is probably a break-even fight and I probably won't even make money on it," Paul said ahead of fighting August.

"It's not about the money, it's about staying sharp and the experience of challenging myself in the ring with these guys; it's a beast." Paul's last pay-per-view bout was in August 2023, when 450,000 people paid to watch him fight Diaz.

It was some drop off from the 800,000 that paid to see him lose against Fury, but his last fight and upcoming bout haven't received the same publicity or marketing. Paul has selflessly been pushing women's boxer Amanda Serrano as her promoter, and this upcoming card is being held in her hometown.

It's history for Serrano and Puerto Rico, but Paul is still playing a part as he looks to improve on his boxing journey. According to Forbes, Paul made $27 million from boxing in 2023 although the majority of that came from his fights against Fury and Diaz.

His fight against August still earned him a healthy purse, but it was a small proportion compared to his other to bouts. Forbes also states that Paul made $40 million in fights from 2021 alone, with his bout with Askren and two-fight series against Woodley gaining a lot of attention.

Most boxing fans have now accepted that Paul is here to stay, and many have started showing him respect despite initial backlash due to his switch from YouTube. He can continue his rise on Saturday, although Bourland's 17-2 record will keep him on his toes.
